The Appalachian Mountains are a chain of mountains running through several eastern state in the United States. In North Carolina, these mountains can be found in the western section of the state. Many univerisities call the Appalachian's their home as well as many historic sites. No matter what time of the year, the mountains are a great destination for a vacation full of adventure and excitement.

1. Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Parkway most known for its beautiful view of the Appalachian Mountains which create a captivating drive you won't forget.

2. Biltmore Estate

The Biltmore Estate is a National Historic Landmark located in Asheville, North Carolina. The estate is America's largest home comprised of wineries, gardens, and an 8,000 acre backyard.

3. Boone, North Carolina

Boone is a small town located off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The town is the home of Appalachian State University and is known by journalists as "the ultimate outdoor adventure destination". Boone is a beautiful place to be throughout any season of the year.
